All drivers with licenses in categories C, C1, D, and D1 who wish to maintain their professional qualifications. This course is elective.

Objectives:

The driver should understand that knowledge and skills are the foundation of professionalism. The driver should recognize aspects of daily life and the work environment that affect their safety, health, and mental and physical well-being. They should be aware of the signs of fatigue and stress and how to respond to them. They should understand the process of perception, human behavior in traffic, and the importance of psychological factors in traffic and occupational accidents. The aim is for the driver to: Recognize the basic principles of ergonomics and how to reduce the mental and physical effects of work stress, understand the relationship between the environment, the vehicle, and human factors concerning traffic safety, comprehend the nature of perception and human reactions to various situations, realize the importance of providing good service, whether transporting goods or passengers, and recognize and adopt the traits that make them a professional.

Description:

Professional drivers operating vehicles in categories C, C1, D, and D1 are required to complete five continuing education courses within the last five years for renewal in order to receive the code number 95 on their license. There is significant responsibility resting on drivers of large vehicles, and the goal of the courses is to enhance professional drivers as a trade and increase traffic safety. The 95 code allows drivers to operate within the EEA area. For more information, it can be accessed on the website of the Icelandic Transport Authority.
