For whom:

All drivers with licenses in categories C, C1, D, and D1 who wish to maintain their professional qualifications. This course is part of the core courses that everyone must take. Here, drivers can check their status regarding courses. If no courses appear, there are no valid courses or they have not been registered by the course providers.

Objectives:

The driver should understand the principles of eco-driving and how they can minimize fuel consumption and environmental pollution while maximizing their safety and that of others in traffic through proper driving behavior. The aim is for the driver to: Understand the importance of pollution prevention and environmental protection, recognize the function of the engine and the substances that cause the most harm to the environment, drive in an eco-friendly manner to minimize fuel consumption, for example, through sensible use of engine power and braking, drive safely and predictively, and be able to identify signs of hazards in traffic.

Description:

Professional drivers operating vehicles in categories C, C1, D, and D1 are required to complete five continuing education courses within the last five years for renewal in order to receive the code number 95 on their license. There is significant responsibility resting on drivers of large vehicles, and the goal of the courses is to enhance professional drivers as a trade and increase traffic safety. The 95 code allows drivers to operate within the EEA area. For more information, it can be accessed on the website of the Icelandic Transport Authority.
